The Bass Dialogues: Architects Johnston Marklee in Conversation with Tom Healy
The Bass uses this Art Week edition of The Bass Dialogues for the first public presentation of its next building design. Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee of the architecture firm Johnston Marklee talk with Tom Healy, a poet and longtime trustee of the museum. The building has been redone twice already: Russell Pancoast designed it in 1930 and Arata Isozaki reworked it in 2001, and Johnston Marklee is now changing it again. The conversation gets into what to keep, what to change and what Miami Beach's museum should turn into. The expansion is paid for by major investments from the City of Miami Beach, its residents and private supporters.
