The Bass Dialogues: Featuring Amalia Pica

Artist Amalia Pica and assistant curator Jasa McKenzie lead this Art Week edition of The Bass Dialogues, a talk about Lecturas Posibles, Pica's interactive installation at The Bass. The piece is an almost two-dimensional library: walls, furniture and everyday objects are coated in chalkboard paint and traced with white hand-drawn outlines, and visitors draw and write on every surface. Part of the idea came from the building's own past, since it first opened in the 1930s as the Miami Beach Public Library and Art Center. The talk covers shared authorship and how the work turns visitors into contributors. Lecturas Posibles stays on view through February 12, 2027.
