The Miami Circle and Other Indigenous Artifacts
Brockway Memorial Library in Miami Shores hosts archaeologist Bob Carr for a lecture on his digs from the Miami River out to the Everglades. Carr co-discovered the Miami Circle and directed its excavation in 1998 and 1999. The circle is a ring cut into the bedrock along the Miami River, and Carr believes the Tequesta's ancestors used it as a council house or a temple. It became a National Historic Landmark in 2009. Carr is executive director of the Archaeological and Historical Conservancy and specializes in Florida archaeology.
