We Are Permitted drops its ninth pop-up art show into an I-75 Park and Ride lot in Hialeah, out near the Turnpike. The series works by taking over overlooked public spaces, a commuter parking lot this time, and turning them into a one-night open-air showcase for local artists. Each edition gets a fresh location revealed just before it happens, so the crowd follows the drop. Support comes from Locust Projects through a WaveMaker Grant, part of the Andy Warhol Foundation's regional regranting program. It is public art in the most literal sense, staged on the asphalt where people usually just park and leave.
