Miami MoCAAD Soul Basel 2026

The Miami Museum of Contemporary Art of the African Diaspora, Miami MoCAAD, opens its Miami Art Week with the Soul Basel Celebration at The Urban in Historic Overtown. The night is about the museum's plan to turn a former detention center across from Booker T. Washington Senior High School into a museum built around technology, and architect Zena Howard is there to walk guests through it. Howard oversaw design work on the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. Guests can also try MoCAAD's newest virtual reality exhibition, El Pasado Mío/My Own Past: Contributions of Afrodescendant Women to Cuban Art, with music and food filling out the evening. Entry is free with RSVP, donations are encouraged and a free virtual ticket is also available.
