Stitch, Layer, Bind

collaboARTive hosts Stitch, Layer, Bind, a hands-on workshop where you paint, collage, stitch and bind your own one-of-a-kind artist book. Maria Patiño and Lila Lopez lead it. Patiño is a mixed-media artist and educator who runs the painting, textile and book-making parts, and Lopez is a Miami-based visual artist and graphic designer who works across painting, digital art, collage and experimental textiles. Pages start as painted canvas, then get collage, hand embroidery and an unconventional binding. All materials and tools are included, so bring a basic sewing kit plus any fabric scraps or trims you want in the book. No art or sewing experience is needed, and the workshop caps at ten people.
