Friends of the Miami-Dade Public Library hosts an Art Jam with ATOMIK, the Miami artist behind the grinning orange character that has turned up on walls all over the city. It is a hands-on afternoon at the Main Library downtown, materials provided and no experience needed, with ATOMIK on hand for the inspiration. The pieces made in the room eventually get auctioned at the Friends' annual benefit, so the whole thing doubles as a fundraiser for the county library system. It is a members-and-invited-artists social, one of the perks of joining the Friends.
