A Conversation with Sydney Maubert and Arsimmer McCoy

Artist Sydney Maubert and curator Arsimmer McCoy sit down at the Marshall Davis African Heritage Cultural Arts Center for Still Tippin': Art, Migration, and Landings, a conversation around Still Tippin', an installation about migration and the places communities in motion settle. The talk looks past the moment of arrival to the homes and institutions people build once they land, and how that changes established neighborhoods and starts new ones. It runs from the Great Migration of Black Southerners into northern cities to the continuing movement of people across the Caribbean and into South Florida. The question at the center is what happens when the promise of a destination meets the work of building a life there.
