Movement & Music with Paloma Dueñas

ICA Miami's Family Sunday pairs families with Miami-based Mexican multidisciplinary artist Paloma Dueñas for Movement & Music, using the museum's exhibition of Guatemalan artist Manuel Chavajay as a starting point for dance. The ICA exhibition is a solo institutional show of Chavajay's work, with paintings made with marine oil that carry traditional embroidery patterns of the landscape around Lake Atitlán, plus intervened earthenware pots and remnants of site-specific performances. Dueñas guides kids and parents through the shape of the circle, the movement of light and what she calls the mother of earth dances. The Chavajay exhibition is on view through November 22.
