The King Mango Strut, Coconut Grove's homemade spoof parade, unveils the poster for its 43rd edition on the pedestrian block of Fuller Street with the Coconut Grove Business Improvement District, ahead of the January 3 parade. The Strut began in 1982 after Glenn Terry and Bill Dobson's Mango Marching Band was turned away from the Orange Bowl's King Orange Jamboree Parade for playing kazoos, conch shells and garbage-can drums. Cuban-American muralist David "DaveL" Lavernia, known for bright nature and conservation pieces, reveals the poster and theme. School of Rock Coconut Grove students open, and reggae band Chili Guys headline.
